The Big Band Club Orchestra has been entertaining Montreal audiences for more than 60 years, treating listeners and dancers alike with a variety of outstanding and popular songs from the 40's 50's, 60's 70's, and 80's.
Sixty years ago, several, then young Montreal musicians, decided that they wanted to play music on a regular basis in what was then, a very busy Montreal music scene, with clubs, dances, shows, and special events. Montreal nightlife, and indeed, society, would not have thought of an event without a live band.
The eighteen-piece band with its 5 trumpets, 5 saxophones, 4 trombones and four-piece rhythm section offers listeners a chance to hear swing, Latin, and ballad music like it was meant to be heard. Charlotte Van Dyke, the talented featured vocalist adds even more warmth and excitement to the orchestra as they play songs from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Henry Mancini, Lennie Niehaus, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Carol King, and a host of others. When the band starts playing, the dance floor fills with people eager to step to the music.
