Titus Productions Theatre Co. is excited to announce our upcoming auditions for "Sleepy Hollow", a new musical written by Michael Thrall and Mike Giron, and directed by Michael Thrall. Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 28 from 2-6pm at the Sanctuary Theater.
Those auditioning should prepare one minute of a Broadway song. Please bring both a theatrical resume and a list of any conflicts between the dates of 6/28/25 to 9/20/25. Please use a minus track, no a'capella singing will be accepted.
Callbacks will be held by invitation only.
Rehearsals will typically be Tuesday-Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
Performances are September 12-20 at the Midvale Performing Arts Centre.
All roles are performed on a volunteer basis.
SHOW SYNOPSIS
The eerie village of Sleepy Hollow is steeped in ghost stories—none more chilling than that of the Headless Horseman, said to rise from his grave in search of his missing head. Into this haunted valley comes Ichabod Crane, a nervous and superstitious schoolteacher who sets his sights on the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel. But he’s not the only one—his rival, the bold and cunning Brom Bones, has his own plans. One moonlit night, after a party at Katrina’s estate, Ichabod rides home through the dark woods... and is never seen again. Did he fall victim to the Horseman's wrath—or was something more human behind his disappearance? The mystery still lingers in the shadows of “Sleepy Hollow”.
CHARACTERS
Narrator
Either gender, no age restriction. The storyteller and guide for the audience to engage within the tale. Very passionate and connected with the story, feeling the emotion with everything portrayed around them. Low to medium dance difficulty and medium vocal difficulty.
Brom Bones
Male, Age 18 to 25. A confident team leader with the boys and men of the town, but reluctant and tongue-tied when it comes to Katrina Van Tassel. He is proper and well learned but has a resentment to Ichabod crane. Medium to high dance difficulty and high vocal difficulty
Katrina Van Tassel
Female, Age 18 to 25. A kind and playful lady of the town that honestly tries to pursue academic knowledge. Has feelings for Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones finding herself in the middle of a difficult position of choice between the two. Medium to high dance difficulty and high vocal difficulty
Ichabod Crane
Male, Age 35 to 50. Charismatic and well learned traveling schoolmaster that prides himself in his work. Finds little interest in love but seeks comfort and riches. Also a superstitious man, even when he tells himself that he is not. Medium to high dance difficulty and high vocal difficulty.
Thaddeus Bradbury
Male, age 10 to 20. Brom Bones second in command but also his rival. A very loyal friend but constantly challenges Brom to best him in some means of competition. Awkward with his feelings but portrays confidence even when unsure. Medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Gideon Loftin
Male, age 10 to 20. A loyal friend to his peers but has a tendency to be lackluster when it comes to intelligence. Very playful but air-headed at times. The ring leader when it comes to carrying out Brom Bones’ orders. Medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Sarah
Female, age 10 to 20. Best friend to Katrina Van Tassel and loyal to her as friends can be. Tries to be unconcerned with boys but has a tendency to flirt and associate with them often. Has a quiet fascination and crush on Thaddeus. Medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Gertrude
Female, age 18 to 25. A friend to Katrina Van Tassel that confuses her words and phrases often not understanding the lewd connotations they imply. Playful and flirtatious. Medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Lady Elizabeth Van Tassel
Female, age 35 to 50. Mother to Katrina Van Tassel. Very engaged with her daughter and family, very outspoken and not afraid of confrontation nor spiteful/joking comments. A free-spirited character that finds importance most in her family. Very superstitious and has a fascination with ghosts and the afterlife. Low to medium dance difficulty and medium to high vocal difficulty.
Lady Bradbury
Female, age 35 to 50. A stern mother to Thaddeus and unforgiving to other children of the town. Set in her ways and proud with who she is. Low to medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Lady Loftin
Female, age 50 to 60. Mother to Gideon. A sassy and proud lady that finds offense in almost any borderline insulting comment. Loves to stir up feelings and create conflict. Low to medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Lord Baltus Van Tassel
Male, age 40 to 60. Father to Katrina Van Tassel and loves to have a good time. He cares for his family above all else but is a party animal always trying to be the life of the town. Very care-free and devoted to his wife Lady Van Tassel. Low to medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Lord Bradbury
Male, age 35 to 50. Upstanding father to Thaddeus, engages in the market in town and prioritizes business. A community engaging individual that finds little time to engage with family much. Low to medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Lord Loftin
Male, age 50 to 60. A crotchety older man that finds little pleasure in daily life. A merchant at heart and has no care for the younger generation. Low to medium dance difficulty and low to medium vocal difficulty.
Rip Van Winkle
Male, age 30 to 40. A helpful man to his fellow neighbors but lazy with his own family wellbeing. Found to be happy and playful, but gullible and a push-over. Medium dance difficulty and medium vocal difficulty.
Henry Hudson
Male, age 30 to 60. An undead sea captain that finds pleasure in time spent with his crew with drinking and singing. A full of life character that is a ghost and loves to carouse people into drinking and singing. Medium dance difficulty and medium to high vocal difficulty.
Children Characters
There is a wide variety of speaking roles for children ranging from ages 5 to 15. Some characters portraying young versions of lead characters, and other children of the town. There are many speaking roles, silent roles, featured dancing, and solo vocal parts throughout the show. All children will be involved with group dance numbers and classroom scenes whether it be a featured role or not.
Ensemble
There are many other characters within the show with speaking roles, featured dancing, and vocal solos. Ranging from villagers, ghostly crew, and ghostly dancers. The ensemble will be involved in all group dance and vocal songs and scenes that happen within the show.
