Cloak & Dagger On the Air will present its annual Halloween show this Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Titled “Sounds That Go Bump in the Night!,” the production will feature reimaginings of three Golden Age of Radio horror and suspense dramas, along with an original sketch by creator-head writer Pete Fernbaugh.
Admission is free, although donations are always appreciated. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.
Performed in the style of live radio drama, "Cloak & Dagger On the Air: Sounds That Go Bump in the Night!" will also be livestreamed via The Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Company Facebook page.
“Our actors and audiences look forward to our annual Halloween show,” Fernbaugh said. “It gives us a chance to tell unique, often outlandish stories that fit right into the season of spooks and goblins.”
The three stories featured will be:
• “Poltergeist” by Arch Oboler: When three young women dance on a cemetery’s graves, they arouse the spirits of ancient superstitions, who are bent on taking their souls.
• “Revolt of the Worms” by Arch Oboler: A scientist’s reckless experiments with growth hormones result in gigantic, mutated worms who have one goal in mind: reclaiming the earth for their own.
• “The Shadow People” by Richard Thorne: After the mysterious deaths of her parents, the daughter blames beings of pure darkness, lurking in the shadows, unseen but occasionally heard, patiently waiting in the gloom.
The original sketch will feature characters created by Fernbaugh, including Guy Blunt, All-American Man-Child, and Psycho Sally, the Prepubescent Psychopath.
“The nature of our production is fun,” Fernbaugh said. “Sure, we want people to feel a bit of a chill, but ultimately, we want them to be entertained by the creativity of the stories we’ll be presenting.”
"Sounds That Go Bump in the Night!" will be performed by Cloak & Dagger On the Air’s acting troupe, The Wayward Saints: Chris Carter, Bethany Fernbaugh, Jeffrey Holmes, Nancy Longo, Karissa Martin, Malachi McClendon, Nathaniel McClendon, Maura Danielle Reiff-Parissi, and Dave Zanieski. Sound effects for the production will be created by Cloak & Dagger On the Air’s sound effects team, the Holy Foley Molies.
Top of WV CVB is located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17, in Weirton, W.Va., behind Crazy Mexican, next to Weirton Pet Spa, and across the parking lot from Bistro 303 Prime Cuisine.
“We encourage folks to set aside some extra time to check out the local businesses around us,” Fernbaugh said. “Three Springs Drive is filled with many dining and shopping opportunities. We hope our show can bring some traffic their way.”
