Class Instructor: Laura Jo Thompson
Class Title: Beginning Quilting
Class Description: Create your own table runner or placemat in this beginning quilting class! Participants will learn to construct a quilt block and how to assemble the blocks to make a quilted item. The basic blocks you will learn are very versatile and allow for creativity in how they are used!
Learn how to make the quilt sandwich (the layering of the pieced top, the batting and backing), learn straight and free motion quilting stitches, and how to use a rotary cutter to cut fabric and accurately sew the blocks together.
All supplies are included! Each student will get a layer cake of batik fabric (40-42 10β squares), plus batting, backing, and thread. Shared tools will be available for your use, including a rotary cutter, cutting mat, quilting rulers, scissors, straight pins, safety pins, and seam ripper; however, please bring supplies you have on hand.
*Please bring your own sewing machine to class and note that this is not a beginning sewing class. Bring your lunch!
