Everything, Nothing, Someone Walk & Talk Book Club

The Walk & Talk Book Club will meet on June 17th at 6:00 pm at Victor Park to discuss "Everything Nothing Someone” by Alice Carriere. Participants will listen to the book via Playaways or the Libby App and walk independently at home until the last half hour of the audio when we will gather to walk the trail at Victor Park on the 17th, listen to the last half hour of the book, and discuss the book at Roosevelt Park Gazebo, where we will end up from the trail. The meeting will move to the Community Activity Center if the weather is poor. Alice Carrière's memoir, acclaimed as a New York Times Editor's Choice and various other best nonfiction selections, recounts her coming-of-age amidst glamour and neglect. Growing up in a lavish Greenwich Village home designed by her artist mother, Alice navigates an adult world with minimal boundaries. As she enters adolescence, a dissociative disorder leads to medication and identity struggles, pushing her into various roles, including psychiatric patient and provocateur. Ultimately, a deep connection with a compassionate musician helps her reclaim her true self, culminating in a unique narrative of emergence and healing, marked by gallows humor and brutal honesty.
