We are excited to have our stage’s namesake sponsor — Rotary Club of Wauwatosa — sponsor an evening of extraordinary original musical entertainment from The Delta Routine and Adrian + Meredith.
Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. For more than 110 years, Rotary's people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, Rotary is always working to better our world, and they stay committed to the end.
We take great joy that they have supported Tosa Tonight since the beginning. Thank you, Rotary Club of Wauwatosa, for your continued support of Wauwatosa's free and family-friendly Summer concert series.
Often we find that the last Wednesday of July provides a great opportunity to bring Wauwatosa the best in engaging original musical entertainment. Why the last Wednesday of July? Because the next day marks the beginning of Appleton’s Mile of Music Festival. Artists from around the globe often find themselves passing through Wauwatosa on Wednesday on their journey up to the Fox Valley.
The Delta Routine is not exactly one of those just-passing-through bands, though. They’re mostly local fellows who long ago won the ears and hearts of many Wisconsin music fans, including those Mile of Music organizers up in Appleton. The Delta Routine played the first two Miles, but they have not been back since.
Reunited (bassist Evan now lives in Louisiana) and releasing new music in their 20th year, The Delta Routine tap into the roots of early rock and roll with infectious hooks and melodies, riffing guitars, and whip-smart lyrics. Drummer Kyle Ciske provides the backbeat with the same deft skill he uses when crafting West Allis’ finest craft beers at Ope! Brewing Company.
Tosa Tonight is grateful that we were able to get this back-together band to play the night before they head up to the Fox Valley.
Our opener may be local, but the headliner for the evening is truly global. A look on their schedule has them squeezing Wauwatosa and Appleton in between shows in the United Kingdom and Estonia. Their sound, too, is truly global.
Adrian and Meredith, the dynamic duo behind The Adrian and Meredith Band, have journeyed from their humble Midwest roots, to the heart of East Nashville's music scene, to international showcasing and summer touring. Along the way, they've forged kinships with members of storied acts like Th'Legendary Shackshakers, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Calexico, and Gogol Bordello, who have become not just heroes but mentors and colleagues.
Their music has taken them across Europe, where they've performed for Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Germany, alongside the rest of Europe, spreading joy and solidarity through their art. They've graced iconic stages like The Grand Ole Opry with The War & Treaty, Folk Alliance International, and Levitt Pavilions across the USA.
Critics and fans alike have taken notice of Adrian and Meredith's new songs, most-notably "Klezmer American", "Stop the Spiral" and "NFT" as accurate accounts of being a human-being in 2024. The hard-selling band of John Kveen on a driving upright bass, an overly-talented Ben "The Odyssey" Reiff on drums, and unstoppable Ken Wenzel on hot-jazz saxophones and guitars, makes this act difficult not to dance to!
Carson City Levitt AMP hails their performances as "A World Class Performance," while No Depression magazine describes their sound as "Roots Rock Perfection.”
Tosa Tonight along with Rotary Club of Wauwatosa iis thrilled to bring our community this night of entertaining and original music. If you like what you hear, consider driving north for the weekend and seeing both bands perform again at Mile of Music!
