Join us in person or on Zoom ~ The Hanuman Fellowship, which steers Mount Madonna Center and preserves the work of Baba Hari Dass, offers a Satsang from 11AM-12PM and a Yoga Philosophy class studying the Upanishads, from 12:10-1PM. First Sunday of each month at Watsonville Yoga, 734 East Lake #19-20. By Donation.
Satsang means "like-minded community of spiritual seekers" and shares breathing practices (Pranayama), Meditation, devotional singing, readings from Babaji, and Q & A. 11AM-12PM <3
The Upanishads class is an investigation into the 10 principle Upaniṣads according to Śaṅkarācārya. We will look at select Saṁskṛt sūtras that comprise each Upaniṣad followed by Śaṅkarācārya’s word-for-word translation, and his commentary.
The format of the class is: study, contemplation, and reflection/insight/discussion.
12:10-12:30 Study — Readings
12:30-12:35 Reflection — Contemplation
12:35-1:00 Insight/Discussion
The hope for this class is to find common theme(s) in all 10 Upaniṣads which will shed light on our own personal search for truth/light/peace. We will spend approximately one week on each upaniṣad as follows: Order and length of proposed 12-week study:
Week 1 — Introduction and Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad
Week 2 — Chāndogya Upaniṣad
Week 3 — Īśā Upaniṣad
Week 4 — Kena Upaniṣad
Week 5 — Kaṭha Upaniṣad
Week 6 — Taittirīya Upaniṣad
Week 7 — Aitareya Upaniṣad
Week 8 — Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad
Week 9 — Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad
Week 10 — Praśna Upaniṣad and Conclusion
