Art in the Park—Animal Self-Portraits

What animal are you at heart? Inspired by Bernard Langlais, the Maine artist who often imagined himself as a lion, this workshop invites participants to create animal self-portraits that reflect their personalities, favorite creatures, or beloved pets. We’ll also read Major Taylor: World Cycling Champion, the story of a groundbreaking athlete whose courage and strength inspire. Ride your bike to the park for a special prize!

Each Thursday afternoon, families and community members are invited to enjoy a story read aloud followed by a hands-on art activity inspired by the book or a creative community theme. This free program welcomes all ages and experience levels. In case of rain or extreme heat, we’ll move indoors to the Paul J. Schupf Art Center.
