Gather at the Gallery: Beading workshop with Shay (55+)

Gather at the Gallery is a twice monthly event presented specifically for the 55+ community. Each week there will be opportunities to express your own creativity through a variety of hands on workshops, meet artists and hear their stories, or preview new exhibitions. Gather at the Gallery is generously sponsored by the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility of the Government of Ontario.

In this workshop you will make your own beaded cabochon, as a pendant, brooch, or pair of earrings.

Shay and Devin will demonstrate beading techniques, and discuss beading in Canadian indigenous cultures.

Please note that in this workshop we will be using a needle and thread to string beads. Many of the beads will be 1-2mm in size.

Shay Herold is the two-spirit Kitchener-based artist behind Amikwabi Traders. Shay specializes in furs, leather, bones, crystals, and beads.

Shay will be assisted by Devin Pronovost of Devynn Design.

Shay (She/He/They) and Devin (He/they) are both Two-Spirit Indigenous people residing in Kitchener-Waterloo, along the Haldimand Tract. Their passion for art, nature and community will guide this beading workshop and allow people to leave with a new skill.

They are excited to offer an opportunity for folks to make new friends and leave with a small piece of art of their own.
