Founded summer 2024, I created the Ruben Big Band with the goal of bringing high-quality big band music to the area by holding these young musicians to a professional standard. It's difficult to bring together this many people, but where others may quit ahead and find problems, we push through and create solutions.
For the past month and a half, we have been building a show to bring you a new kind of sound uncommonly heard in Anchorage/The Valley, and we hope to share with you what we've been working on during our performances we've got coming up.
One of these happens to be the country's birthday, and I can think of no better way to celebrate America through the first music genre the country ever made: Jazz. Not only will we be playing traditional Big Band standards, but we'll also be playing more contemporary tunes spanning different genres, creating a setlist just as diverse as the history behind Jazz, its creators, and the country.�����
