Raku Animal Mask Making with Russell Ford
Hosted by Embrace Qi
$20 per person | All materials included
Ever dreamed of becoming your spirit animal—literally?
Join us for a hands-on, clay-between-your-fingers kind of experience with PNW sculptor Russell Ford as he guides you through the magic of raku animal mask making.
Date: May 24
Time: 3-5:30pm
Location: Rising Phoenix Farm (see map)
Bring a little wildness with you—come with an animal face in mind (we recommend a couple of reference photos on your phone for inspiration). Whether it's wise owl eyes, the fierce snout of a fox, or the soft gaze of a deer, Russell will help you bring it to life.
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
How to build a simple armature
Techniques to sculpt your animal’s features in clay
How to make your creation expressive and uniquely you
Glazing and raku firing will take place at a later date—either at the Troutdale Art Festival, Art in the Pearl, or another local art festival (we’ll keep you posted so you can join the magic of raku fire in action!).
This is a one-of-a-kind experience perfect for creatives, nature lovers, mask enthusiasts, or anyone looking to try something new and unforgettable.
Limited spots—grab your spot early and let's get our hands muddy!
Bring water and dress for the PNW weather. We plan on working outside but if it rains, we will move into Van Zandt Art Studio.
