1. Bumbershoot
Started in 1971 as the "Mayor's Arts Festival" with a $25,000 budget and
125,000 visitors. This music festival was renamed
Bumbershoot
in 1973 and quickly grew in size after that. Over the time it became a major
annual arts and music festival in Washington held over Labor Day weekend.
Hosted at the Seattle Center this site was originally built for the 1962
World's Fair, it’s one of North America's largest festivals.
2. Freakout Festival
The festival features rock, punk, psychedelic, experimental, hip-hop, and
electronic music. It was founded in 2013 by Guy Keltner and friends, and
it's held at various venues in Ballard. Notable past performers include The
Seeds, Os Mutantes, Viagra Boys, and Alex Maas of The Black Angels.
Freakout Festival
is an annual underground music festival in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood
happening this November 2024. The festival spans multiple venues with
outdoor spaces, beer gardens, and food trucks. The fest is organized by a

3. Summer Meltdown
Founded in 2000 by the band Flowmotion on San Juan Island, it moved to
Darrington, Washington in 2006, and then to Monroe, Washington in 2022.

was Founded by Adam Zacks and it started as a one-day event headlined by The
String Cheese Incident, Jack Johnson, and Ben Harper. It quickly grew in
popularity expanding to three days in total by 2006 and four days by 2011.

Since opening in 1986 as Champs de Brionne Music Theatre it has grown from a

stadium also features the Event Center, which includes the Washington Music
