PDCA's August First Monday Forum on August 4 will focus on Africa and U.S. soft power.
Our speakers will include:
- Dr. Richard Wike, Director of Global Attitudes Research at the Pew Research Center. He will present new findings on attitudes toward China.
- Col. (Ret.) Robert E. Hamilton, Ph.D., a Former Senior Fellow and Head of Research at the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Eurasia Program.
- Judd Devermont, an operating partner at Kupanda Capital and Senior Adviser at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, who previously served as special assistant to President Biden and senior director for African Affairs at the National Security Council from 2021 to 2024.
- Amb. (Ret.) Laurence D. Wohlers, Vice President of PDCA and former Ambassador to the Central African Republic and Deputy Special Representative for the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the CAR. His diplomatic posts included Minister-Counsellor for Political Affairs to the European Union in Brussels and Minister-Counsellor for Public Affairs in Moscow.
The event will take place at noon at GWU's Lindner Family Commons (1957 E Street, NW, Room 602, Washington, D.C. 20052) and will also be available via Zoom. For those who arrive before 11:40 a.m., a light lunch will be provided.
