**Presentation Announcement:**
The Washington-Wilkes Historical Foundation is excited to announce the recent acquisition of a newly surfaced portrait of Robert A. Toombs, one of the most recognized figures from our city. We invite you to join us to learn about the portrait's provenance and its journey back home.
As the historical foundation for our community, we are dedicated to the preservation and education of the history of Wilkes County and the surrounding areas. This event is a prime opportunity to showcase how the foundation works to maintain and celebrate our rich cultural heritage through various programs, exhibits, and events.
On August 22, 2025, we will be proudly adding this portrait to our archives and collections dedicated to Robert A. Toombs. The foundation curates and maintains an extensive collection of historical documents, photographs, and objects that illustrate our region's history. We make these materials available to researchers, and they are always accessible to the public.
Additionally, this evening serves as a "Call to Action" for those who are interested in becoming members and getting involved in our efforts to protect, discover, share, and promote our history.
