Dream Cafe
with Bernard Welt
A weekly guided dream-sharing hangout

PLEASE RSVP IN ORDER TO RECEIVE LINK TO PARTICIPATE.

MEETING ROOM WILL CLOSE 5 MINUTES AFTER THE START OF THE MEETING SO AS TO NOT INTERRUPT DREAM SHARING

Welcome to the theater of your dreams—an inexhaustible source of images and stories that can provide entertainment and insight, and that requires no cable service and no subscription—just attentiveness and an open mind. Participants will share dreams, using a gentle, non-intrusive method for unlocking the metaphors that structure dreams (derived from the long-tested method of Dr. Montague Ullman). We’ll also talk about techniques for recalling and recording dreams, as needed. Sharing dreams, and helping others examine dreams, is encouraged but not required, and no peer pressure to go beyond one’s own comfort zone is permitted in the group. This is a non-clinical dream group, sharing and discussing our dreams within well-defined boundaries, with the goal of appreciating the insights they may yield.

The Dream Cafe is suitable for persons 16 and over. Persons under 16 should consult with a parent or guardian before attending.

Please note: This online dream-sharing group endorses and abides by the Ethics Guidelines of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. Dr. Welt is not a psychotherapist.

Bernard Welt is Professor Emeritus of Arts and Humanities at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University, where he created model interdisciplinary courses on dreaming that have influenced others around the world. He is the co-author, with Phil King and Kelly Bulkeley, of Dreaming in the Classroom: Practices, Methods, and Resources in Dream Education (State University Press of New York), the first major academic study of the use of dreams in education; and is a former member of the board of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. He is also the author of many essays on dreaming and the arts, and of poems appearing widely in journals and anthologies, including The Best American Poetry.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO SUPPORTING RHIZOME. PLEASE RSVP HERE AND DONATE IF YOU'RE ABLE. (NO DONATION IS REQUIRED TO RSVP OR TO PARTICIPATE.) THANK YOU. AND A HUGE THANK YOU TO DR. WELT FOR HIS GENEROUS SUPPORT.
