“Three Sisters” movie screening

Set amidst the soft light that emanates from Kagoshima's Rokugatsu-doh summer lantern festival, is a story of three sisters and their family as they struggle to revive their confectionery shop.

Plot:
The eldest sister is living back at home, the second sister is in the middle of a divorce, the youngest has broken off her engagement, and the confectioner who lives with them is their mother's ex-husband. As the second sister's husband jumps into the mix to create a rather complicated family, they argue with open hearts as they run around during the summer Lantern Festival trying to revitalize the family confectionery shop. The family depicted exudes a comforting joy unbound by blood ties and rules.

あらすじ
長女は出戻り、次女は離婚調停中、三女は婚約破棄し、同居する菓子職人は母の前夫。そこに次女の夫が駆けつける。何とも複雑な家族が本音でぶつかり合い、六月燈祭りで不況にあえぐ和菓子屋のために奔走する。吉田羊、吹石一恵、徳永えり扮する三姉妹と市毛良枝演じる母が体現した、血縁や制度に捉われない家族の形には心地良い幸福感があった。
