Audition Information:
Dracula – August 17, 3 – 5pm
CASTING: 5 men, 2 women, and possibly up to 4 additional actors to play waiters, attendants, maids, vixens, and also help provide narration.
Character breakdown:
Count Dracula (35-60)
– an undead, centuries-old vampire who is equal parts debonair and violent.
Jonathan Harker (25-35)
– a young solicitor hired by Dracula to faciliate his purchase of land in England. Harker travels to Transylvania, is imprisoned and tortured by Dracula, but escapes. He is fiancé to Mina.
Mina (MEE-nah) Murray (20-35)
– Harker’s fiancée, and best friend of Lucy, she is a smart, reserved cautious woman. Mina is the purest of all the characters making her the most excuisite target for corruption.
Lucy Westenra (20-30)
– Mina’s best friend, Lucy loves life and yearns to live it with wild abandon. Her biggest problem is having three suitors. Corrupted by Dracula, she changes from a coy, aristocratic socialite into a wanton vampire.
Dr. Jack Seward (25-35)
– A young psychiatrist at Carfax Lunatic Asylum, and a suitor to Lucy. He is resistsnt of the more spernatural possibillities, but plays significant roles in the battle against the vampire.
Renfield (30-60)
– a former solicitor he is now a mysterious patient at Carfax Lunatic Asylum. Renfield was manipulated and used by Dracula to become a minion and servant to the vampire. He is a man on the mental edge, compelled to eat bugs.
Dr. Abraham Van Helsing (40s-70s)
– a mentor to Dr. Steward, Van Helsing is an authority of the mystic and occult, an intellectual Victorian superhero of sorts who leads the effort to defeat Dracula.
Vixens (20s-30s)
– these vampire “sisters” were seduced by Dracula, and have become his Brides.
Various waiters, attendants, maids (various ages)
– may also assist with narration
Scene readings will be from scripts provided. (No sides to post.)
