YHLB is a a 12 week specialist yoga course, supported by extensive research trials in conjunction with Arthritis Research UK and The University of York, specifically designed to help people with chronic back pain. No prior experience of yoga is necessary. The course provides people with gentle, simple, effective techniques that may reduce back pain, strengthen the back and reduce the incidence of future back problems.
Kate has been teaching the YHLB course since 2013. I wouldn't still be teaching it if people didn't tell me how good it had been for them.
These dates for this course are provisional - it's possible that I might need to adjust dates a bit (if I have a family emergency - my mum is in poor health), in which case I will provide as much notice as possible, and make alternative arrangements with you if the new dates don't suit you.
Through our yoga practice, we can build strength, flexibility and balance to get you back to doing the things you want to do, whether thats walking your dog, gardening, swimming, going to the gym, enjoying gigs or playing golf.
Four course participants have been able to cancel their back surgery following completion of the course. A couple of course participants have had spinal surgery and found the yoga practices to be helpful in recovery.

The 12 week course costs £200.
Bookings are through Pilates by Physio - you will need to register with them before you can book in.

If you cannot attend a class, I will send a recording of the class or its equivalent.
The course will run simultaneously on zoom. If you've booked a face to face ticket but can't attend, you are very welcome to join on zoom.
You will also need a yoga mat (I recommend 6mm thick), a 2.5m long yoga belt, and a 8cm thick yoga block. I can buy the block and belt for you - £15 for both. And please bring a blanket and cushion to class too, for comfort.
