Celebrate Black History Month with an inspiring and interactive experience that honors heritage, creativity, and excellence!
Roots and Rhythm: A Black Parade of Blooming Excellence
Join us for a vibrant afternoon where our Jr. Teens explore the richness of Black culture through music, movement, storytelling, and reflection. We will recognize local pioneers whose vision and creativity embody the excellence we strive to celebrate.
Program Highlights:
• Creative Expression Workshops (spoken word, poetry, rhythm)
• Cultural Exploration Stations (drumming and chants from West Africa)
• Legacy Circle honoring national and local African American pioneers and exploring historic African Tribes
• Black Excellence Showcase featuring a group performance and youth-led tributes
This uplifting program is designed to educate, empower, and cultivate culturally aware young leaders.

Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Jr. Teens arrive by 12:45 PM)
Location: Joyner Park Community Center, 703 Harris Road

Room: The Walker Room – 2nd Floor
Attire: Casual black attire; Jacks and Jills are encouraged to wear either a black top or black bottoms
