Take your pottery skills to the next level in this 6-week intermediate course designed for students who have completed our beginner pottery class or have prior experience working with clay. This course builds upon foundational techniques, introducing more advanced methods in both hand building and wheel throwing to expand your creative possibilities.
Throughout the course, you will:
• Refine your skills in pinch, coil, and slab construction with more intricate and structured designs.
• Explore wheel throwing techniques for creating bowls, mugs, and other functional forms.
• Experiment with surface decoration, including carving, sgraffito, and underglaze application.
• Enhance glazing techniques, learning layering, dipping, and specialty finishes.
With hands-on instruction and personalized guidance, you’ll gain confidence in shaping, detailing, and finishing your pottery. By the end of the course, you’ll have several completed pieces and a deeper understanding of the ceramic process, preparing you for independent work or more advanced studies.
Prerequisite: Completion of our beginner pottery course or prior experience with clay. All materials are provided.
