🚨 ⚠️ MUST READ ALL⚠️ 🚨

DIFFICULTY: HARD. This is a LOOP Trail taking the Pu’u O Kona Ridge to Pu’u O Kona Summit to Kuli’ou’ou Summit and descending the Kuli’ou’ou Ridge. Must be comfortable with rope sections, steep drop offs and NOT afraid of heights, experienced hikers only should attempt this route otherwise please take the regular Kuli’ou’ou Ridge out and back.

TIME: 6-8hrs Total including breaks

DISTANCE: About 5 miles round trip

ELEVATION GAIN: 2,214ft

WHERE: Kuliouou Ridge Trailhead. - (Use 767 Kalaau Rd as a reference)

Start Time: 8:00 AM

PARKING: 🅿️ Parking in the neighborhood CAN be difficult and you may end up parking at the bottom of Kalaau Pl. CARPOOL as much as possible.
PLAN ACCORDINGLY!!!!

CHALLENGES: First 1/3 mile it is steep climbing up to the ridge but you get immediate views out of the valley. 2 rope sections towards the summit. About 1 mile on the Ko’olau Summit Trail with several rope sections, depending on weather can be in the clouds, can be very windy and muddy.

PAYOFF: The views along the entire trail are iconic. You can see from Kaneohe to Koko Head. The beautiful Mt. Olomana, Mokes, and the Ko’olau Mountain range as a backdrop. On a clear day you can even see Maui & Molokai

Recommended Items:
- Hiking Shoes with good grip and/or bring spikes it can be very muddy on the Ko’olau Summit Trail.
-Long pants are recommended otherwise expect overgrown trail conditions and ferns to poke and scratch.
-Gloves for rope sections if you feel the need.
- Sunscreen, sun protection.
- Water Source
- Hiking Sticks if you need it
- Food, Snacks
- Hat and/or sunglasses
- Mosquito Repellent
