Back Bay Preserve Dayhike

- hey, everyone, as I mentioned in the previous post, Old Rag is a no-go due to damage from flooding and access to the trailhead....we will revisit this Fall to keep our 16-year streak intact....as a backup, let's do a closer-to-home beach/wetland hike over in the Back Bay Preserve....it's unique for us to hike around beach areas, but this one is a great alternative and gives you plenty of chances to check out the mostly deserted beaches and glimpse into the False Cape area close to the VA/NC state line....think tons of waterfowl and sand....last time, we bought a few plastic bags to do a little cleanup along the dunes & i'd like to do that again.....gonna keep the mileage low-ish, maybe no more than 6-8 miles of super flat hiking that will be so much easier than Old Rag's elevation and rock-hopping....afterward, definitely a beer or two nearby and a well-deserved lunch.....thinking 9-1ish and less than an hour away may make this a bit easier to do for you busy-types.....anyway, I will update the page when I figure out a few more details, but please join us next Saturday, the 14th for some great camaraderie, views, and general sanguine positivity......T
