The Vilnius Picture Gallery invites you to the lecture “YIVO: From Vilna to New York and Back (to Vilnius)” by Jonathan Brent, taking place at 3:00 p.m. on June 17.

Join Jonathan Brent, CEO and Executive Director of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, as he discusses the organization’s ongoing efforts to recover and preserve the remnants of its prewar archives and library. Jonathan will explore the historical significance of this work amid the devastation wrought by both the Nazi and Soviet regimes, as well as its enduring relevance in the American context. He will also discuss the profound reasons why returning to Vilnius remains a deeply cherished aspiration for YIVO—and share insights on how this vision can become a reality.
