LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF AUTHENTIC BRAZILIAN SAMBA DE GAFIEIRA (PARTNER SAMBA) FROM ZERO! MASTER INSTRUCTORS AND RIO DE JANEIRO NATIVES SULA & ROMULO WILL GUIDE STUDENTS THROUGH THE BASICS IN THIS 4-WEEK COURSE, INCLUDING:

* Footwork
* technique
* musicality

The series consists of 4 classes:
SUN MAY 4: 5PM-6:30PM
SUN MAY 11: 5PM-6:30PM
SUN MAY 18: 5PM-6:30PM
SUN MAY 25: 5PM-6:30PM

Each class is followed by 90 minutes of open practice, included with class price.

What is samba de gafieira?
Samba de gafieira is a partner dance that originated in early 20th century in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It emerged from rhythms of African origin, such as lundu and batuque, and is connected to the ancestry of the larger Afro-Brazilian community. Samba de gafieira can be danced to various types of music, such as bossa nova, choro, MPB (“Música Popular Brasileira”), pagode, samba-funk and others. Like tango, it is a walking dance characterized by a close embrace.
