Saturday, July 12 | 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Vassalboro Grange, Discover the ancient art of indigo dyeing in this hands-on workshop where you'll learn the fundamentals of working with a traditional indigo vat. We'll begin with an exploration of indigo's rich history and cultural significance, followed by an introduction to the chemistry and process of vat dyeing that transforms ordinary fabric into stunning blue creations.
During this three-hour session, you'll learn simple yet effective folding and binding techniques that create beautiful resist patterns on cotton cloth. All materials, including cotton fabric, will be provided.
