Accomplished artist Beth Roy makes it easy and inspiring to get started!
Join Beth on Monday, Sept. 22nd from 1:00–4:00 for an Introduction to Oil Painting workshop designed to cover the essentials. You’ll explore the fundamentals of composition, values, color, and edges, while picking up practical tips to help you paint with ease and enjoyment.
This relaxed, hands-on session encourages experimentation, learning through practice, and discovering new techniques in a supportive setting. If you finish a painting during class, that’s the cherry on top!
All supplies are included for $79— bring your creativity and curiosity!
About Beth Roy
Growing up in rural Michigan, artist Beth Roy acquired the foundation that allows her paintings to come to life today. Professionally, Beth studied art at Austin Peay State College, and Christopher Newport College. She has won several regional awards and her work is currently represented in Beaufort, Southern Pines, and Vass, North Carolina. Beth explains her creative process in this way, “I initially seek good composition. I zero in on the lights and darks, while keeping in mind colorful shadows or mid-values. All of my paintings start with a fairly dry ground color, not a white canvas, and then blocks of color are added. Very thin paint is applied first and only at the end are details and thicker paints added.” Beth considers her work to be highly representational and generally realistic.

Registration allows for one Guest per class project.

Dress to mess or bring an apron.
