The Labyrinth at St. Paul's Anglican Church is open to walk every Sunday morning from 10am to noon. All are welcome and encouraged to come experience the contemplative journey of the labyrinth. May you release what no longer serves you and receive that which you need.
Labyrinth walking is an ancient meditation practice used by many different cultures for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walk at your own pace, releasing that which no longer serves you as you walk toward the centre and receiving whatever it is you need as you follow the same path out. Our indoor labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France.
If you are new to labyrinth walking, please feel free to let our volunteers know and they will be happy to give you an introduction to the space and practice. If you feel drawn to, choose one of the wisdom stones to carry as you walk. We welcome contributions to our Prayer Wall, and paper / pens are provided. Some feel called to journal after they walk if this is a practice you cherish.
Please note that shoes must be removed while in the labyrinth space. Cash donations for labyrinth upkeep on-site are appreciated, but not required. Chairs are provided for those who would prefer to visit without walking. You are welcome to bring bottled water but no other food and beverages are permitted in the space.
"The unicursal path of the labyrinth is what differentiates it and sets it apart as a spiritual tool. The labyrinth does not engage our thinking minds. It invites our intuitive, pattern-seeking, symbolic mind to come forth. It presents us with only one, but profound, choice. To enter a labyrinth is to choose to walk a spiritual path.”
