We are very excited to announce Sahabhāva: A Community Showcase of Indian Classical Music & Dance 2025!
Sahabhāva is a Sanskrit word for coexistence, community, and coming together. Originally a virtual festival which was one of the first Indian classical music and dance events to occur globally during COVID-19, ICMSV continues the concept live with the same intention - to support artists in our community and experience a breadth of artistic disciplines.
This year’s Sahabhāva boasts a diverse range of dance and musical traditions from the subcontinent, brought alive here in Vancouver. The evening will unfold with a Bharatanrityam recital by Ishwarya Anand, who is joined by a troupe of live musicians featuring Meenakshi Deepak (Carnatic vocals), Sudarshan Sridharan (Mridangam), Satvik and Shravan (Violin), Hari Santhosh (Kanjira and Keyboard), followed by an exploration of Hindustani ragas by budding Santoorist Ahilan Hatti along with Akaaljot Singh (Tabla)
The second half commences with a Carnatic vocal recital by Sheema Balakrishnan, Shriram Rajagopalan (Violin), and Curtis Andrews (Mridangam). To conclude, Farmaan will present a traditional Qawwali recital with Akaaljot Singh on Tabla
Entry is by scaled contribution levels starting at $20 - giving you access to the entire evening! Proceeds will go towards our artists and sustaining the organization’s future endeavours, so whatever you are able to contribute is much appreciated.
This program is presented by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV), with generous funding from the Vancouver Foundation's LEVEL BIPOC Grant and the City of Vancouver's Communities and Artists Shifting Culture Grant
