Meiwa is a Canadian Folk/R&B singer-songwriter based on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country (Melbourne, Australia), known for her thoughtful lyrics, genre-blending sound, and a voice that radiates compassion and clarity. Her debut album Let Go & Grow earned a 2016 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for “Urban Artist of the Year,” and her 2018 single Wonder led to a sold-out launch and East Coast tour. During the pandemic, she expanded her audience with a global livestream of Waiting. In 2024, she released lead singles Chapter and Savour from her EP Eire, celebrated with a live show at Shotkickers. Now in 2025, Meiwa continues her momentum with singles Start Again, Freeze Frame, and Fire on the Water from her newly released album Surface Tension. She has shared stages with legends like Jim Byrnes, Ken Boothe, and Lee “Scratch” Perry, and performed at top Australian festivals including WOMADelaide and Byron Bay Blues Fest as a backing vocalist for Mama Kin Spender and Thando. Meiwa’s evolving body of work highlights her dedication to honest, heartfelt expression and cements her as a distinctive voice in contemporary Folk and R&B.
