2.00-2.50 Jamie MacDanger and the Chosen: James MacDanger sings about scary airplane flights, reincarnation, losing your words, and bad choices.
The alter ego of veteran musician/songwriter Jamie Macdonald (The Orchid Highway, Cass & the Cassettes, The Legion of Flying Monkeys), MacDanger warns people about stuff they probably already know, through a whimsical style that mixes pop-rock and folk.
Smiling too much, ‘though bad for his career, has attracted the generous support of musicians Franck Sala (guitar), Roger Seto (bass), Adrian Buckley (drums) along with the grudging participation of brother Derek Macdonald (keys).
Don’t be a stranger, come see MacDanger!
3.05-3.55: Arsenic & Old Lace arose from Vancouver’s long tradition of Saturday afternoon roots jams. When Jen Hinton and Sinéad X Sanders met at the Railway Club one day & decided to sing some songs together, they discovered they were scratching an itch they hadn’t been aware needed scratching. The elusive sound of tight-knit vocal harmonies combine with the guitar twang of local rockabilly legend Jimmy Roy for a show you’ll have to come see for yourself.
