"Iran in Motion: Contested Histories of the Trans-Iranian Railway"
Guest Speaker: Mikiya Koyagi (U of Texas)

This lecture explores the history of the Trans-Iranian Railway, revealing how it reshaped mobility, labor, and belonging across local and global geographies.

Speaker Bio: Mikiya Koyagi is Associate Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. His first book, Iran in Motion: Mobility, Space, and the Trans-Iranian Railway (Stanford University Press, 2021), has won the 2023 Japan Consortium for Area Studies Book Award, and the 2022 Saidi-Sirjani Book Award.
