DELIVERED BY AZAD ESSA, AUTHOR OF HOSTILE HOMELANDS: THE NEW ALLIANCE BETWEEN INDIA AND ISRAEL (PLUTO, 2023)

This talk will examine how India, long touted as a friend to the Palestinians, became a strategic partner with Israel, so much so that today, the duo have become kindred spirits in the ongoing colonization of Kashmir, the ethnic cleansing of Indian Muslims and the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The talk will also highlight and elucidate what this relationship means for North America and the world.

Post-lecture, Azad Essa will be in conversation with facilitator Sid Shniad (Independent Jewish Voices).

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Azad Essa is an award-winning journalist and author based between Johannesburg and New York City. He is currently a senior reporter for Middle East Eye covering American foreign policy, Islamophobia, and race in the US. He is the author of The Moslems are Coming and Zuma’s Bastard and has written for Al Jazeera, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and the Guardian.
