Wings & Wonder at Humane Indiana

Formerly known as the Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehab Center, today (HIW) occupies over 25 acres of land in Porter County. The grounds host an assortment of both wild and free birds, and a number of guests that visit the rehab facility each year (currently 3,500+ annual intakes!). This morning we'll begin by birding the short trails and woodlands near the rehab facility. Late summer birds should still be in full song, like pewees and vireos, while plenty of fledglings should be abound as well.

Afterwards we'll spend the last hour with HIW staff learning about the rehab facility, and a chance to meet some of HIW ambassador birds, including Aurora, the newest ambassador Northern Saw-whet Owl.

Registered Participants will meet IAS guide Savannah Bennett at the Humane Indiana Wildlife Center parking lot at 8 a.m. CT / 9 a.m. ET. We expect to conclude by 11 a.m. CT, though participants may pack a lunch to enjoy in the outdoor ambassador viewing area afterwards.

Registration is required and limited to 20 participants. Event tickets are $20 per person for Indiana Audubon members and $30 per person for non-members. Youth 16 years of age and under are $10, and free for children 3 and under. Proceeds support both Indiana Audubon and Humane Indiana Wildlife.

This excursion includes a walk of .25-.75 mile distances within the Humane Indiana Widlife grounds. Most trails will be hard packed soil, but not paved.
