In this 5-part series, we will be meeting some of the main qualities of ADHD in a creative and embodied manner. This is NOT a parenting course, where you’ll learn how to manage your child’s behaviour. Instead, it’s a space where you’ll be supported and empowered to experience the energetic imprint of your child on your nervous system and body. This will allow you to develop insight into what’s being created in each of you when you are together. Additionally, it will support you, as the parent, to offer attuned co-regulation to your child.
During these workshops, we will use metaphors, stories, and myths as portals to encounter ways in which you can rewrite the identities you assign to yourself and your child. We will also be using rituals as grounding techniques to create a safe communal space. Additionally, we will be adopting trauma-informed language and polyvagal insights to connect you to your body’s wisdom. Systemic thinking will allow us to focus on what’s being created in your families, rather than just concentrating on the child with the neurodevelopmental disorder.

The facilitator and teacher:
Gianella Caligari is a warranted systemic family psychotherapist who has over a decade's worth of experience working with children and adolescents in the national mental health service. She, therefore, has extensive experience working with families of ADHD-diagnosed children, besides her own experiences of ADHD within her family. She has also researched families with ADHD-diagnosed children for her Master's dissertation, which was also presented at a conference in 2021.
Gianella is invested in learning and teaching about embodied and creative practices to support the healing of relational injuries and traumas. She enjoys bridging various fields, which allows her to create alternative frames of how mental wellbeing, mental disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders can be viewed, thereby going beyond medicalised discourses.
