About the event

Glass Arts Open Studio
Want more time to practice your preferred glass art technique? In this class, the instructor will be present to assist you with your preference of stained glass, flameworking, or fused glass, and answer any questions you may have. You are free to create at your own pace! Sign up for multiple Open Studios to perfect your glass shaping skills. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Prerequisite: You must have taken at least one Stained Glass Class at the Turner Center before indicating registration for a Stained Glass Open Studio, one Flameworking 101 Class at the Turner Center before indicating registration for a Flameworking Open Studio, or one Fused Glass Class at the Turner Center before indicating registration for a Fused Glass Open Studio

Supplies: All students may choose to purchase their own glass, or to pay the Turner Center $20 for a package of glass for the open studio. For stained glass and fused glass open studios, this $20 bundle includes one 12x12 clear plate of glass, as well as a 6x6 plate of a warm color (red, pink, or purple), a 6x6 plate of a cool color (blue or green), and a 6x6 plate of black or white. For flameworking/beadmaking, this $20 bundle includes 2 clear rods of glass, as well as a rod in a warm color (red, pink, or purple), a rod in a cool color (blue or green), and a rod in white or black. For students purchasing their own glass, reference the following websites: Anything in Stained Glass, Mountain Glass, and Delphi Glass. All purchased glass must be determined to be kiln safe (oceanside compatible and system 96 tested). Students may send an email to Z2xhc3NhcnQgfCB0dXJuY2VudGVyICEgb3Jn to verify the compatibility of glass before purchasing. Glass that has already been purchased must have the original sticker listing it as oceanside compatible and system 96 tested to be used in the Richard Hill Glass Studio.
