Also known as the full Buck Moon, Thunder Moon, Salmon Moon, Mead Moon, and numerous other seasonally inspired monikers, this year, I chose the Berry Moon to theme July’s full moon to change things up. I took time to contemplate how much I enjoy berries, but wanted to consider their star quality outside of being delicious treats. That’s when I thought… what about ink!?!!
This berry playful gathering will get underway with trying our hand(s) at making beautiful berry ink from scratch using fresh seasonal berries. Then, while our ink is cooling from it’s cooking phase, we will swap our artist hats for culinary crowns as we concoct a deliciously refreshing dark-berry beverage, delicately sweetened with juniper berry infused simple syrup - an intricate detail to our homage to the ripe berries moon.
Then, in order to fully experience the practice of long-hand writing with liquid ink, we will need to hand-craft funky feather quill pens for ink-dipping!
Using our new pen & fresh ink, we will scribe our affirmations, intentions, and wishes for the next lunar cycle - all etched into being by the berry sweet & magical brilliance of Nature… in July. Held indoors. Space is limited. Don’t wear white LOL, and please bring a sharp pair of scissors if you have some.
