Join us for our third Plant-Based Des Moines Book Club hosted by local MD, Madeline Godar and Karen Bender!
Our book club is a great opportunity to connect with others, sample food and learn something new!
The book we are reading this month is "Staying Alive: Healing from Heart Disease - A Survivor's Story" by Sherry Shrallow.
This is what Amazon has to say about this book: "Sherry Shrallow tells the harrowing story of her survival from a near fatal heart attack at the age of 56. She was an active, healthy woman, or so she thought, in the prime of her life, when death came knocking at her door. In Staying Alive, Sherry takes you through that near fatal day and beyond as she learned on her own what she had to do to prevent this from ever happening to her again . . . Her message is clear and strong. Heart disease should simply not exist . . . if we take heed of the scientific research that teaches to consume a no-oil, whole foods plant-based diet--a diet that will prevent heart disease from developing in the first place and that may reverse it in those who already suffer from it."
