PHOTO REFERENCE GUIDE
Capturing your pet’s unique character in a portrait is an exciting opportunity to showcase their fun and loving nature. To assist you in selecting or taking the best possible reference photos of your pet, we’ve compiled a list of essential tips.
Remember, the deadline for photo submission is October 22th, allowing ample time for the image to be transferred onto canvas by the instructor. Please direct all reference photos to
cGFsZXR0ZW9mcm9zZXMgfCBnbWFpbCAhIGNvbQ==, with a limit of up to 5 photos of the same animal.
Guidelines and tips for the best reference photos:
Focus on the Subject:
Ensure your pet is the primary focus of the photograph, filling the frame as much as possible.
Backgrounds:
Don’t worry about the backdrop; the class will cover how to simplify or alter backgrounds.
Eyes as Focal Points
The eyes are the windows to the soul. A sharp focus on your pet’s eyes ensures the rest of the image will also appear clear.
True to Character:
Only submit photos that reflect your pet’s typical appearance and personality.
Lighting Matters:
Proper lighting is crucial, especially for pets with black and white fur. Aim for a mix of direct and diffused light to highlight details accurately.
Consider Pose and Angle:
While amusing photos are delightful, they may not translate well into a portrait. Opt for natural poses and angles.
Variety:
Provide a range of photos from different perspectives, focusing on close-ups of the face, eyes, head, ears, neck, and chest.
We’re excited to see your submissions and help you create a beautiful tribute to your furry friend. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out via email at
