the Might Mojo Prophets

The Mighty Mojo Prophets is an excellent Southern California blues band.

The debut album by The Mighty Mojo Prophets gives ample evidence of their affinity for jazzy swingin'-and-jumpin' West Coast Blues, while also showing their natural feel for classic Chicago Blues. No oldies act, they bring freshness and an evolving creativity to stirring music that makes secure connections with the storied Long Beach blues scene of the 1980s and 1990s when James Harman, Rod Piazza, Doug MacLeod, now-deceased William Clarke and other formidable musicians were on top of their game.

The band also traces its proud heritage back to the post-WW II era of Big Joe Turner, Cleanhead Vinson, T-Bone Walker and other paragons of intermingled blues, jazz and r&b that relocated in the Golden State from Texas and elsewhere. For good reason, The Mighty Mojo Prophets fancy themselves purveyors of 'high-power, old-school blues.'
