🌟 Character Breakdowns:
Truvy – Age: 40s
The warm, sassy, and outgoing owner of the beauty salon where all the action takes place. Truvy’s quick wit and big heart make her the glue of the group. She’s always full of advice—solicited or not—and keeps things upbeat with charm and hairspray.
Annelle – Age: 19–25
A shy and nervous young woman who starts working at Truvy’s salon. Throughout the play, Annelle transforms from a timid outsider into a deeply religious and quirky member of the group. Her earnestness and evolving identity add humor and heart.
Clairee – Age: 60s
The witty, wealthy widow of the former mayor. Clairee is elegant, sophisticated, and delightfully sarcastic. She’s known for her sharp one-liners, love of football, and ability to lighten the mood with dry humor and good-natured teasing.
Shelby – Age: 20s
A headstrong and spirited young woman with a zest for life despite her struggle with type 1 diabetes. Shelby is the emotional center of the play. Her relationship with her mother, M’Lynn, and her decision to live life on her own terms drive the play’s dramatic arc.
M’Lynn – Age: 40s–50s
Shelby’s mother, a strong, loving woman with a deep sense of duty to her family. M’Lynn is caring and composed, often bottling up her emotions—until a powerful breakdown near the end reveals the depths of her pain and love.
Ouiser – Age: 50s–70s
The town’s eccentric and grouchy curmudgeon. Ouiser is blunt, sarcastic, and always ready to complain—but beneath her tough exterior is a loyal and fiercely caring friend. Her gruffness provides comic relief and a surprising amount of warmth.
