Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

We are asking everyone to sing a selected song from the show. Please see the song listed below for each character on the audition website and follow the link for the selected music cuts for each song. We will have physical copies of the sheet music available at auditions.
Dance
Mimi & Angel will have a short movement audition (not a full dance call) immediately following their individual vocal audition.

Callbacks will be held Monday, August 19 at Theatre Tulsa’s studio space. Callback notifications will be sent no later than August 18 at 11pm.
VIDEO AUDITIONS
Please submit a video with your vocal selection and a video showcasing your dance abilities. Submissions can be uploaded via the audition sign up form. Videos due by August 17.
IMPORTANT INFO
Rehearsals will begin September 22, 2025. Rehearsals will be Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 6:30-9:30pm and Saturdays (as needed). A detailed rehearsal scheduled will be available at auditions.
Performances will be November 14-16, 2025 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
