Understanding Teenagers & Trauma
Explore how life experiences and trauma shape the developing brains of adolescents. Understanding the teen brain and leveraging this knowledge is a starting point to building strength-based relationships with teens.
Session 2 - 10:45 am - 12:15 pm
Setting the Stage
Learn how establishing healthy boundaries fosters trust and connection with youth. This session introduces compassion resilience- what it is, why it matters, and how to cultivate it for long-term professional sustainability.
Sessions 3 - 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Preparing Ourselves as Practitioners
Master the language of resilience to help reframe challenges and empower teenagers. Discover how the power of radical calmness can help teens manage stressful situations.
Session 4 - 2:45 pm - 4:15 pm
Communicating Using a Strength-based Approach
Learn practical, strength-based communication skills to build resilience and independence in teens. This session covers active listening, techniques to facilitate conversation, and offers strategies to help support teens as they learn to manage stress effectively and develop coping mechanisms.
