August NARG Monthly Meeting

We are thrilled to share that Conner Bennett, a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, will be presenting via Zoom at our August meeting. Conner was the lead author of a paper entitled "Following their footsteps: Report of vertebrate fossil tracks from John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Oregon, USA." The paper gained traction in the media with articles on CNN.com, OPB, and more. From https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/25/science/fossil-footprints-oregon-john-day-monument/index.html:

"About 50 million years ago, a small bird waded along a lakeshore in what today is central Oregon. A worm wriggled at its feet. The bird appeared to probe the silty earth with its beak, once, twice, three times, looking for food. On the fourth try, the bird may have found something. Or perhaps it missed again and moved on."

Everyone is welcome to join us! Membership is NOT required! Before the talk, we will have show-and-tell by members and guests. Please bring fossils for identification and discussion.
