Stephanie Gibeault has loved dogs and nature all her life, so it’s no wonder she’s fascinated by a dog who saves bees. As a certified professional dog trainer and former biologist with a master’s degree in animal behavior, Stephanie has been covered by fur and drool, swarmed by monkeys, and grumbled at by gorillas. Now she writes books for children about animals and science and lives just outside of Toronto, Canada. Learn more at stephaniegibeault.com.

Cybil Preston is the State Apiarist/Chief Apiary inspector for the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Started as a hobbyist backyard beekeeper in 1997. Became a regional Apiary Inspector for the Maryland Department of Agriculture in 2004. Former president of the Susquehanna Beekeepers Association. Continues to educate new beekeepers by teaching the short course for Susquehanna Beekeepers in conjunction with Harford Community College. Became an EAS certified Master Beekeeper in 2013 at West Chester College. In 2014 promoted to the State Apiarist position for the MDA. In 2015 trained with the Maryland Department of Corrections and Public Safety along with her Dog Mack to become certified in American Foulbrood disease detection. In 2018 Trained a second dog, a springer spaniel named Tukka. Mack has recently retired and Tukka is currently the only certified American Foulbrood detector dog in the United States. In addition to working her own honeybee colonies she enjoys vegetable and flower gardening with her husband on their small farm with their dogs, miniature donkeys and goats.
