The focus of one of Bradford County Historical Society’s soon-to-be-installed historical markers, the Patterson Screen Company of Towanda, will be discussed. It’s founder, Carl V. S. Patterson, gained worldwide recognition through the development of X-Ray Intensifying Screens which led to the opening of the Patterson Screen Company with partner, Frederic W. Reuter. Patterson also developed phosphors for neon and fluorescent lighting. Two companies in Towanda today have carried on the work first started by the Patterson Screen Company.
This program will be presented by Mark Frazier Lloyd.
This presentation is part of the 2025 Friday Night at the Museum programming series that is held monthly from May through October. Each event is held in the Great Room at the Bradford County Historical Society, located at 109 Pine Street, Towanda, PA. The museum is open a half-hour prior to the event. Access to live streams of programming is available to members of the Society.
Other programs planned for 2025 include: August 15, The Great Hunt of 1805; September 19, The Justice Bell: Tracing the Journey of a Forgotten Symbol; and October 17, Native American Life in Bradford County.
