What better way to experience the gentle glow of a late September Sunday afternoon than with a beer, listening, close up, to a musical work of vitality, joy, passion and profound stillness. Schubert's string quintet – two violins, viola and two cellos – could well have had its premier in such an informal setting, had it been performed in the composer's lifetime.

A brief introduction to the quintet and the quintet itself should bring the performance in around an hour with an extra ten minutes between movements to order drinks.
