About the event

Sketchfest Comedy Cabaret
Saturday, September 20th at 10pm - Sketchfest Comedy Cabaret is BACK!

We’re serving up fresh lineups, big laughs, and the kind of chaotic creativity that only happens when sketch comedy stays up past its bedtime.

Come sketch party with us.

FEATURING:

Small Friend Tall Friend
Small Friend Tall Friend is a dynamic sketch-comedy group founded by Becky Ablack and Zoe Marín. The troupe is known for their sharp wit and playful absurdity. Most recently, they performed at the Spotlight at The Second City, alongside troupe members David Civcic and Stephanie Perri.

The troupe has been making waves in the Toronto comedy scene, performing at the Toronto SketchFest 2025 and Montreal Sketchfest 2025. In July 2023, they brought their hit show Do You Think You’re Better Than Me? to the Toronto Fringe Festival and Hamilton Fringe Festival, receiving glowing reviews from Intermission Magazine, Parton and Pearl, So Sumi, and more. The show’s success was further cemented when it was named Critics’ Pick at the Hamilton Fringe Festival 2023. They have gone on to perform at festivals, including The Theatre Centre’s Comedy Is Art Festival in 2024. Their humour is rooted in pop culture, identity politics, and the awkward realities of being in their early 20s. They draw inspiration from boundary-pushing artists such as Tim Robinson (I Think You Should Leave), Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle (PEN15), Ziwe, Garfunkel and Oates, Bo Burnham, and Julio Torres.

Lower Class Act
Lower Class Act, comes from the working class school of comedy. With many of the members coming from acting, improv, sketch, and musical theatre, their unique voice takes inspiration from all across human history and their own intrusive thoughts. They have created a style of comedy that both delights and shocks, and will have audiences holding their sides with laughter. With members who can be seen all around the city doing all sorts of comedy, you will leave thinking, wow, that really was a Lower Class Act.

The Banana Loafers
Gordon Harper, Ivan Hutomo and Jennifer-Beth Hanchar give you “The Banana Loafers”: a loveable and laughable sketch troupe based out of Toronto. A shared passion in writing, comedy, aliens, and well..a good hot slice of banana bread, these three are ready to make you laugh your loaf off. For the record, Gordon has made banana loaf for the group twice.

Debit-Cash-or-Credit
Debit-Cash-or-Credit (Mike Jankovich, Emma Friedman, and Paul Smith) is a new-generation Toronto-based sketch troupe who have been laughing and playing together since meeting in Kingston, ON. (2017). Audiences have defined their work as “glamourous”, “structured”, “silly”, and “is it okay for me to laugh at this?”. With performances at SketchFestTO, their semi-finalist title in Sketch-to-the-Death, their “Dumbest Sketch in North America” win at Cam Wylie’s Sketch Comedy Invitational, and being labelled this year’s “Ones to Watch” by Toronto Police Services, DCC is willing to bet that they’ll have you running a tab

Portero Jones
Portero Jones is a sketch duo whose absurdist and observational sketches are formed out of spite for the world, society, and each other. We'll see how long they last.

Truffle Chips
Truffle Chips. Definition: 1. Posh movie theatre snack 2. Two arrogantly ambitious community theatre stars (Emilia and Srutika) joining forces to do sketch comedy. Clown, c*nt, canonically online.
