Discover a Toronto institution! Join us at Bloor and Bathurst to explore one of the most vibrant intersections of the city once the proud home of Honest Ed’s. We’ll explore how Ed Mirvish’s bargain store transformed the surrounding neighbourhood including the nearby Mirvish Village arts community. We’ll also explore the important legacy of Blackhurst a hub for Toronto’s Black community. Visit the site of Beverly Mascoll’s beauty company which launched a revolution in Black hair care. We’ll also visit the former offices of Contrast newspaper Canada’s oldest newspaper for the Black and Caribbean diaspora.

Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check in. Feel free to call us at (647) 542-3450 if you are having trouble finding the start location.
End Point: A Different Booklist & Blackhurst Cultural Centre (777-779 Bathurst St)
Length of Tour: Approximately 90 minutes
Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 1.4 kilometres mostly on city sidewalks and city streets and some non-paved urban parks.
Ticket Price and Registration: This tour is provided for $8.00/person. The total cost is $9.85 (includes a $1.85 transaction fee). Please note that space is limited on our tours. You may not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time.
This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
