Join us for our season opener on September 20 at the Heliconian Hall.
Harpsichordist Louise Hung has devised an intriguing musical journey from Rome’s Accademia dell’Arcadia to Beijing’s Forbidden City, based on the experiences of the 18th-century Lazarist missionary Teodorico Pedrini.
Accompanied by projected visuals and subtle soundscapes, the program features solo and trio sonatas by CORELLI BONONCINI, PASQUINI, and excerpts from PEDRINI’s own violin sonatas.
The musicians are Cristina Zacharias, violin; Jin Cho, flute; Margaret Jordan Gay, ‘cello; Louise Hung, harpsichord, with visuals/soundscapes by Matthew Antal.
A rare virtual visit to the private sphere of the Imperial palace where, as their instructor in Western music, Pedrini introduced the Kangxi Emperor and his sons to the excellence and delights of the Italian Baroque.
