In today’s Canada, securing a summer job as a student has become more difficult than ever before.

The very jobs that once introduced generations of Canadians to the workforce , from customer service to community roles are now disappearing. The numbers speak for themselves:

• Fewer than 10 summer student jobs listed in the entire Greater Toronto Area
• Just 43 student jobs in all of Ontario
• Only 370 student jobs posted across Canada
• Meanwhile, 1,283 Ontario jobs are open to Temporary Foreign Workers
• 3,500+ jobs across Canada are listed to bring in Temporary Foreign Workers
